September 15, Saturday & September 16, Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Vermont Archaelogical Society is holding the Second Annual Vermont Chimney Point Knap-In, as part of the 12th Annual Atlatl Competition at the Chimney Point Historic Site in Addison, Vermont. The knap-in will take place next to the Historic Chimney Point Tavern, on the beautiful shores of Lake Champlain. There will be knapping demonstrations and workshops by Tim Dillard, a master flintknapper from Illinois, throughout the weekend for beginner and intermediate knappers. Camping will be available at nearby DAR State Park (right on the lake), which has flush toilets, hot showers ($), and a dump station. Some food vendors will be present for Saturday's events. Tables and a tent will be available for other vendors. Rock sellers are strongly encouraged to attend since Vermont flintknappers are starved for decent, knappable stone.
