September 13 & 14, Saturday & Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Vermont Archaeological Society is holding the 3rd Annual Vermont Chimney Point Knap-In, as part of the 13th Annual Atlatl Competition at the Chimney Point State Historic Site. The knap-in is September 13 & 14 from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m., and the Atlatl Competition is September 12-14. There will be knapping demonstrations & workshops by Tim Dillard, a master flintknapper from Illinois, for beginner & intermediate knappers.
Location: Next to the Historic Chimney Point Tavern, on Lake Champlain, directly across from the fort at Crown Point on the New York side.
Camping available: DAR State Park (on the lake). There are flush toilets, hot showers ($), a dump station. Food vendors will be present on Saturday. Tables & a tent available for other vendors.
Rock sellers are strongly encouraged to attend since Vermont is starved for decent, knappable stone.
